I’m gonna be frank, I dislike people who drive in vehicles that they have no legit use for or need for to begin with. The obvious culprit being housewives and teenagers who own SUVs and large-ass pickup trucks. They don’t need them, but they have them for the .. STATUS!!! The symbol that they are better than you and can buy things to showoff their importance… usually because daddy/hubby is at work making all the money for the household.
I say the downfall of large personal vehicles on the roads is a great, great thing for everyone and the world. And just so I’m not flamed unnecessary, I believe people who truly need large pickups and SUVs should have them….that being construction workers/contractors, police, military, agriculture, and so-forth…not little people with huge egos and the money to pay for the vehicle as a symbol and as quasi-aggressive vehicle

Yes, I have always bought a car for its efficiency and practicality. I have a couple friends who are feeling the sting and I think its hilarious- they’re getting what they deserve. I argued with them countless times over their childish obsession with flashy vehicles, and now they just might agree.

I agree that there are many people out there that may not be able to justify the vehicle that they are driving, and it is a status thing for them. I wonder how high and mighty they feel when they’re at the pump every other day digging deep into their wallets (as their bank accounts are shrinking steadily). And there are practical alternatives too. My mom needs a truck not for work but for home repairs, brining things to the dump, etc. There are instances where the average person may need more room than their eco-car provides, but they do make 4 cylinder trucks that do nearly as well on gas and emissions as most cars. Now that this issue is improving in America we can all brace ourselves for China’s economic boom because apparently they like the SUV as a status symbol too. No hope!!!
