I’ve been in the business for 5 years now. Clients have it in their heads that plywood construction cabinets are the only way to go. Do you agree? I don’t think I do. Seems to me that particleboard is made SO much better than it used to be. It’s thicker, well sealed/laminated and is more dense than the old 1/2" thick stuff. Besides, living so close to the ocean and having the New England temperature variations we have, it seems that particleboard would be less likely to warp.

Any thoughts or opinions on this one? I just like to know what other pros are thinking.

Tonight I made Yorkshire pudding for the first time. I am a total-foodie, but I have yet to tackle this one. I lived in W. Yorkshire, England 14 years ago. However, tonight was the first time I actually made Yorkshire pudding — when I was there other’s made it. Not to mention my kitchen there was smaller than my downstairs bath.

I succeeded! (Thanks to Gordon Ramsay — hottie that he is) The hubby loved it. Proper English Sunday tea. Yeah me!

I’m an independent contractor and was delivering appliances for Sears in MA. I had an issue with the hours they required me to drive as it was in violation of DOT regulations. They wanted me to be on the road for over 15 hrs a day & when I objected to that they terminated my contract. The biggest problem that I’m now facing is that they are holding my last check. I’m a small business & I desperately need my cash flow but they said they are holding it for 60 days!! I don’t know what to do short of hiring an attorney which I cant afford. I had to pay my helper with money from my savings. I have tried getting my check but I keep getting the run around. One person states they are holding it in case I have any outstanding claims (suddenly one has materialized!) and the next person states that’s what they do when a contractor quits…which I didn’t..they terminated me. I have a bond with them which is supposed to be held but I don’t understand why they wont give my my check. I worked for that check I put in alot of hours and labor. Do they have a legal right to hold my check?

I work as a sub contractor kinda for a man. He claims my wages as sub but it is his way of not having payroll. He does not do 1099. I really want to file taxes for 2007. Can i without a 1099? Also how do i set up an account with my state, MA, so that i can start paying taxes. I want to be a legit worker. I want my credit & social security statement to reflect all the hard work i do everyday. Advice please
