My hot water tank was leaking all over my b-room closet-towels,soaps,bubblebaths,shampoos,wash cloths, hand towels,,jackets, radio, vacumms, coolers, lotions, powders, fem. products, etc. were drenched in rusty H2O.I took the next day off (while the maint. guy was fixing it) to clean up all of my stuff. The maintenance guy paid for 4 loads of laundry to be done. Rinsed all of my hygene products because rusty H20 coated everything. By the time I was done with the laundry and rinsing all of my stuff, the maint guy was done with the hot water tank replacement. After he left, I had to clean my entire closet (shelves and bar), mop my b-room and kitchen due to walking in and out of the apt., wash the walls (due to rusty H20 dripping all over them), and finally put all my stuff back in the closet. I ASKED MY LANDLORD FOR A "DISCOUNT" ON THIS MONTH’S RENT BECAUSE I TOOK AN ENTIRE DAY OFF TO CLEAN UP THE MESS FROM THE PLUMMER AND MAINT.GUY. I HAVE TO MEET WITH HIM 2DAY. DO U THINK RENT SHOULD BELESS

I am renting office space in a converted warehouse. The contract specifies that heat is included in the rental price, and that didn’t matter in the summer. Now it’s December in MA, and we are still without heat. The landlord has worked with a heating company and all the ducts are in, but they are having trouble getting their heating contractor to finish the job. It is too cold in there to work. Do I have any recourse? Can I break the lease because there is no heat now, even though they have promised for several months that heat is coming? Any help with this is appreciated.

My landlord is replacing the hot water tank in my building. He first did not inform me that he was doing this and when I filled out a maintenance report I was informed why I had no hot water and that it would be 15 to 20 days till I had it again. Now first is it legal I mean I dont mind an occasional cold shower but over two weeks of cold showers its a little much. So my questions are is it legal, if not what can i do about it, and also is 15-20 days logical for a hot water tank replacement.
