We have hired a general contractor to finish our basement who will be using subs for electrical/plumbing?
We have our contractor’s licence and insurance information, but are we required to get this info from the subs also, we are in Massachusetts. What kind of a warranty should we look for from the general contractor – he is agreeing to a year’s warranty. Would that include the subs work also?

Your all set. The GC is responsible for any and all warranty work for a minimum of the year.
He is responsible for getting the other sub contractors Lic and insurance #.. They are not employees but sub contractors to him so he is taking on responsibility if he gets audited an not having LOC, ins and workmans comp data from any sub contractor he hires to do work for you.
This is common practice and as one poster said, he/she is foolish to sub out work to people that does sub standard work since its his/hers reputation on the line.
